Huawei Mate 30 Pro – Fascinating Design?

Huawei News

So we will see a bunch of great flagships in the second half of 2019. Samsung is gearing up for the launch of the Galaxy Note 10 which will happen next month. We’ll also get the iPhone 11, pixel 4 as well as the OnePlus 7T. But there is one more high profile handset coming in the second half of the year which according to rumors could potentially take the crown for the best smartphone of the year. I’m talking about the Huawei Mate 30 Pro.

Is Huawei Safe Now?

As you already know, Huawei ban is kinda uplifted by the US government, I said kinda because Huawei has still not got an official word from the US Department of Commerce on whether it can restart using Google’s Play Services for Android. I’ll explain that in the latter part of the post but for now, the leaks of the device have intensified again. Maybe it’s a Hype generation from Huawei itself.

Front and Back of Huawei Mate 30 Pro

We do have some real-life images of the back panel of the Mate 30 Pro. As you can see, the glass back has curved sides just like the back of the Mate 20 Pro. However, it also has curved corners, making me wonder the Mate 30 Pro could have a design similar to the Huawei’s Honor Magic as you can see here. Maybe it won’t have those curves at the front but it’s possible that it could have it at the back.

Anyway, as you can see it has a circular camera cutout for the rear camera which reminds me of the Nokia Lumia 830 which also had the exact circular camera housing. But the difference here is that the Mate 30 pro will have a 4 camera setup and I’m positive the periscope zoom camera which was introduced with the P30 Pro will also make it to the Mate 30 Pro.

Also, we have a screen protector leak of this device which shows very thin bezels. It has the top part blurred, not sure why. Maybe Huawei itself is leaking the stuff to generate hype and they don’t want to showcase the top part just yet. I don’t think it’s the screen protector of the Galaxy Note 10 because the left screen protector has kinda circular edges. Note 10 is rectangular in shape.

Anyway, the bezels are quite slim just like the Galaxy Note 10 so with what we have seen so far the Mate 30 pro does indeed look fascinating. Also, we have some rumored specifications of the handset. They say it will have a 90Hz display just like the OnePlus 7 Pro. I’m not really sure about this because the rumor was not generated from the trustable source so take it with a lot of skepticism.

55W Charger

Also, the rumors say it will have a 55W of fast charging which is 10W more than what the Galaxy Note 10 Plus is going to offer. Again this is not confirmed either. US President Trump surprisingly came out and said that he will let American companies work with Huawei. Everyone thought that means the ban was officially uplifted. But it looks like Huawei is still in the woods as far as the ban is concerned. Huawei will largely be considered blacklisted as far as the Commerce Department is concerned, which means American companies which also involves Google have to take special permission from the US government if they want to work with Huawei. And the report says that most applications to be filed by American companies to work with Huawei are expected to be denied. So Huawei is still in danger and still has an uncertain future.
